This is the moment a gigantic crocodile ran at terrified villagers in a flooded paddy in Indonesia.
The five-metre-long reptile was carried into the field by an overflowing river following heavy rain the night before.
Dramatic footage shows the crocodile become provoked and come after residents of Kedungwiangun village in central Java, an Indonesian island.
One villager said: “We were unaware that the crocodile is that big. So we all ran away once it got to the ground with its mouth wide open.
“It came after us fast. It was ferocious.”
The short clip shows some of the locals try to trap the animal by using bamboo sticks and wire but it breaks free and races out of the water.
A group of villagers can be seen nervously backing away from the crocodile as it runs amock in the paddy.
Locals said it eventually disappeared but concerned residents remain worried it or another crocodile will return.
Police criticised the residents for trying to catch the fearsome beast.
“It is dangerous to try to catch a crocodile without proper knowledge, not to mention the fact that they did it at very close range,” a spokesman said.
It comes after a pensioner was “eaten by a crocodile” in a gruesome attack in Australia.
